We have a travel day!
Have you wondered what is meant by travel day? Yes, we go from point A to point B. But more than that we have to get up, sweep the floors inside the rig and pickup the rungs. Make sure all things inside the rig are secure and won’t go flying around as we drive. We have 2 sliding doors that must be locked into place as well as the show door. Outside, we have to disconnect our sewer hose, water hose, and electrical power. Before disconnecting from water, we have to determine if we have enough fresh water in the holding tank. The blank tank has to be accessed if we need to empty it (FYI that is the potty tank!), then we need to determine if the grey tank needs to be emptied. We never empty the black tank without emptying the grey tank. The grey tank helps clean the sewer hose after emptying the blank tank. To keep the black tank healthy, we let it build up and slosh as we drive. The sloshing is like a cleaning of the side walls and sensors. After we empty the black tank, we always add fresh water to the tank, typically we add five gallons-ish and the cleaning solution to improve the smell. Once that work is done and everything is stored, we are kind of ready to hit the road. What I forgot before we disconnect everything, is we pull in all four slides and store the leveling legs. This helps make it easier to store items in the basement bays without banging your head on the slide outs.
Now, we are ready to roll on to our next destination. On this day, we are traveling from Tok, AK to North Pole, AK. Yes, we stayed at the North Pole!!! Do you know where North Pole, AK is located? It is located just outside of Fairbanks, AK.
During our drive, we crossed a bridge with a wooden platform. We found a Moose on the Loose, Judi and I are obsessed with moose’s on the loose. We found the start or maybe the end of the Alaskan Pipeline.
Our RV park for this stop has a dog park. Winnie had a new experience and learned to LOVE dog parks with her friends, most of them are doodles like her but a bit bigger. Winnie’s new friends are Harley, Lucy, Elsa, Sally, Cooper, Murphy, Izzy and Dottie. Although Izzy and Dottie are not doodles.
The Air Force was just down the road from our campground and sometimes were could watch the jets or only hear the jets flying around.
Those of you who have been to Bronner’s before in Frankenmuth, MI I want you to know that North Pole, AK is kind just like Bronner’s. I think Bronner’s is larger.
Dinner was at the Alaskan Salmon Bake where you had dinner and then attended a show. The shows are always a bit of history with a lot of humor added. Both the dinner and the show were great. I will confess, I had prime rib and Judi had the salmon.
