Day 35 is a travel day, we left North Pole, AK and drove to Denali, AK. Along the drive is 127 miles, our travel guide says it takes 4 hours. If you were traveling by car, you could probably make it in close to 2 hours, not by motorhome!

The roads are hilly and curvy and the scenery is gorgeous. You have pullouts to stop at as you choose along the way. Between Judi and I we have numerous photos to share. The bridges are always cool and can be narrow, if you are lucky you can drive in the middle as you cross them.

Today, we were able to stop at the Three Bears Grocery store to replenish some of our fresh food items and lunch meat. Our lunches often consist of ham and turkey on a tortilla wrap. Sometimes, I make them the night before so they are ready when we are ready. On travel days, I fix up our yogurt for breakfast the night before as well.

Once we arrived our new campsite, we can explore the area. This campsite was behind a boardwalk of businesses. Basically, we are camping in a gravel parking lot with electric, water, and sewer. You don’t get much space between rigs or much room for your TOAD to be parked. It is just crazy. When I walked Winnie, I found a really cool log with large bumps.

Across the road from our campsite was a Princess Cruise Hotel. Lots of buses in and out of the place. They have like a little village of their own with different buildings for lodging as well as shops and restaurants. We walked their pathways and were able to capture pictures of the mountains towards Denali Glacier (but not the actual Denali Glacier range).

For dinner on this night the caravan group all loaded onto an old school bus and went to a dinner show. Our dinner and show were at Cabinnite, this also was in its own little village of tourist shops. This complex also has housing for the workers that come from all over the world to work for the tourist season in Alaska. If they get a room of their own, it is like a dorm room with a place for their bed and belongings. They have a shower house and a place to go for their meals. If they get more of an apartment, they share it with many others. Our bus drive said he was lucky and had a room of his own and did not have to share his space. The dinner show was very good. It was a musical history of the times gone by and they had great humor too. A few of our people were also part of the show, you never knew when you would be picked to participate and what you may do. Joe from our group was supposed to be an evil person who was supposed to give a wicked laugh and be booed by the audience. His laugh was hilarious, it was a fun giggle.
