Anchorage, AK – Golden Nugget RV Park – July 9
Let me tell you about Anchorage, I don’t care to return to this city, nor campground. We have stayed at some interesting campgrounds, but this one takes the cake! First we are warned by our wagonmasters to not leave things that can be detached as they will get stolen. Second, be careful where you walk your dogs, they can pickup remanents of drugs that will kill them by licking their paws! Does this sound like the place to stay? The homeless population is very high and so are the drugs.
As our fellow RV friends were pulling into the neighborhood of our campground, they were stopped and told to take their bikes inside at night or they would be stolen! Let’s just say thanks to Fantasy RV for looking out for our safety!
On this day, our scheduled tour was to go to a knife factory called ULU. I guess it really is not a tour but a shopping expedition to buy expensive knives. We skipped this option and went exploring on our own.
Instead, Judi and I went our own way for the day we drove along the Turnagain Arm, past Beluga Point where you might see Beluga Whales, to Bird Point which is a sightseeing/rest area on the water, and down to Girdwood which is where you can find Alyeska Ariel Tram to the top of the ski resort. The clouds moved in and out, if you come prepared, you can hike back to the bottom of the ski mountain.
We had a good day of exploring.
Stay tuned for more adventures…
