Destruction Bay, YT – July 22
Today is another travel day – 224 miles just passing through the area from Tok, AK to Haines, AK. Haines is another 213 miles from our so called campground tonight. 437 miles is just too far to drive on questionable roads.
Our drive once again has beautiful mountain scenery. Twisting roads with more dipsy-doodles in the roadway. Sometimes, you just have to drive the other side of the road or straight down the middle of the road. Don’t hurry, take your time because you just don’t know when they will sneak up upon you. We don’t want to damage the rig, the car or the towing equipment.
We crossed the boarder again between Alaska and Yukon Territory. We have managed very well and have our documents all ready for our crossing. Even Winnie has papers for the crossing, and of course she has to announce herself at each crossing.
I have a photo compliments of Judi that once she asks you if you see the leaf bare trees on the sides of the mountains, you never don’t see them again! Take a look, see if you can visualize the fall tree silhouettes in the mountains. There, you are now always going to see those trees too.
If you look closely at the roads, you will see the dipsy-doodles I refer too. Sometimes you get lucky and they put orange flags on the shoulder of the roadway to bring attention to danger.
Love this photo Judi captured of Winnie sitting in her bed sleeping while sitting up, her head must have gotten very heavy. Of course, I am driving so I don’t see these moments, but I guess this is a common occurrence for Winnie.
Our tonight is very rustic. It is a gravel parking lot, it used to be a campground with electric (120V). The owner passed away and the daughter has closed the campground. However, Fantasy RV still uses this site for a one night stop over. You have to make sure your water tank is full before you arrive, and you want to ensure your black & gray tanks has room for the used water. As long as Judi does not shower, we have no problems with either. Yes, Judi is a girly-girl who takes long showers. Army showers are not in her vocabulary, oops I rated you out Judi.
Our wagonmasters provided us with another of their homemade dinners at Denise’s Dining Cafe, although Tim called it something fancier, I forgot what he called it. Dinner was very good! Great Job Denise!
