On June 12, we departed from Purely Goatique in Montana and head to Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. This was a pretty long drive and it was our day to cross border customs.

The drive was 6 hours (589 km) without stops, but yes of course we stopped, we had to purchase fuel along the route, we also had to clear customs, and a few potty stops were required for both Winnie and I. The Princess Passenger in the copilot seat, takes them whenever she wants to get up and move about as I drive.

We crossed the Canadian Border in Sweetgrass, the longest part of our stop was waiting on the cars before us. When it was our turn, I handed our passports, both vehicle registrations and printed card with the VINS, license plates to our customs’ agent. She asked if we had any alcohol, weapons, ammunition. Where are you going? How long will you be in Canada. Asked Judi the same questions, then sent us on our way.

Our campground for the next few days was located in Cochrane, AB called Bow RiversEdge RV Park. This park had really nice sites, including a little privacy from others. Our site was next to the storage or overflow parking. The park backed up to the Bow River which had a really nice walking path, it was actually an off-leash dog walking area. Winnie and I could go out the back gate and take walks at potty time. Having other dogs off-leash was not Winnie’s favorite, they scare her. When Winnie gets scared, she wraps her leash around me, try’s to claw my behind and wants to be picked up. Winnie is such a funny character.

This area of Montana had a lot of trains traveling, it got to be a bit of a game as we drove. Can you guess how many train cars have “Amazon” printed on the box car? The trains are funny in this area, they are often of the same type of car, thanks to Cameron, we refer to them as “hotdogs”, “buns” or “hotdog on a bun”. Can you figure out what kind of cars are hotdogs? The are generally black and carry liquids/oil. The hotdog & bun combo are generally carrying grain that would be dumped out the bottom. Regular box cars are just a bun.

Neither of us really took any photos on this travel day.

Stay tuned for Day 13, this day will be challenging to share because we have way too many photos to choose from
